Danbaba Suntai: Is he ready to govern?

A Senate team sent to Taraba State to assess the health of the State Governor, Danbaba Suntai, arrived Jalingo, the state capital Tuesday, after which the team asked the ailing governor to proceed for further treatment.

The team sent by the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, caucus in the Senate, was led by Senator Hope Uzodinma. It met behind closed doors with the governor.

After the meeting which was held at the governor’s official residence and was attended by the governor’s loyalists, including Senator Emmanuel Bwacha representing Taraba South Senatorial District, Senator Uzodinma briefly told journalists that there was no crisis in the state.

He said the governor would proceed for further treatment while the Acting Governor, Garba Umar, who had held sway for the past ten months when Suntai was hospitalised in Germany and later in America, would continue in office.

Uzodinma, however, said Umar would consult Suntai on sensitive state issues.
