Management of Zenith Bank Plc has alerted its customers to be wary of fraudulent transaction alerts purportedly sent by scammers via cloned sites/links.

In a statement released and sent to its customers, the bank stated that it has received several enquiries from customers to ascertain the authenticity of the alert messages.

“Dear valued customer, we have received enquiries from some customers about transaction alerts purportedly sent by us. These alerts for strange transactions invite the customer to click on a link to view the details of the transaction. However, the link leads to a ‘phishing’ site which attempts to get personal banking information such as Internet banking code, password, e-mail address, email password, phone number, ATM Card PIN, etc.,’’ the statement reads. The bank offered tips on how customers can identify fraudulent transaction notifications.

“The description contains a link. Do not trust links in an e-mail and do not click on them. The Account Number is masked because they do not have that information. The Account Balances are not provided as they are not privy to that information and a wrong figure would prompt you to call your Relationship Officer.
