Justice H. A. Nganjiwa of the Nigerian Federal High Court in Port Harcourt today ordered the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and INEC to recognize Senator Andy Uba as candidate of the party for the 16 November Anambra State governorship election.

Justice Nganjiwa gave the order in his ruling on a motion for interlocutory injunction brought by the Anambra State factional Chairman of the PDP Ejike Oguebego today.

The court also ordered the National Working Committee of the PDP and the Andy Uba’s faction of the party in Anambra State to maintain status quo in the matter pending the determination of the substantive suit.

Counsel to the plaintiff in the matter Charles Onyebukwa said the ruling means that INEC should accept the outcome of the 24 August PDP Anambra governorship primary election conducted by the Ejike Oguebego led PDP in Anambra which produced Andy Uba as candidate.

However, counsel to the PDP Mmecha Kalu expressed dissatisfaction at the decision of the court.

The court also ordered the National Working Committee of the PDP to obey the earlier order it made on 31 May which validated the Ejike Oguebego led PDP in Anambra.
