The national wheelchair basketball team have been charged to pick the sole World Cup ticket for the country .
The team will participate at the forthcoming African qualifier for the World Cup in Angola between 24 October and 3 November.
Charging the team to ensure the qualification for the World Cup was the Grand Patron of Nigeria Wheelchair Basketball Federation, NBWF, Victor Ochei, who is the Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly. He promised the team total support for the Angola trip , adding that it will be a great honour for the country’s flag to be hoisted at the World Cup scheduled for South Korea next year.
The NWBF has invited 20 players to an open camp from Monday at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos. At least 12 players will be selected for a closed camping ahead of the qualifier.
Bukola Olopade, President of the NWBF said that the players will undergo serious training, adding that selections would be based on merits, just as he expressed appreciation to the Speaker Delta State House of Assembly for his support for the players.
