FG to buy 30 buses for Federal civil servants
The Nigeria federal government on Wednesday approved the purchase of 30 33-seater buses for transportation of civil servants in the Federal Capital Territory.
Alhaji Bukar Goni Aji, Head of Service of Service of the Federation who announced this to reporters at the end of today’s meeting of Federal Executive Council said the buses were part of welfare package for federal civil servants in the capital city.
“The procurement of the buses will serve as a welfare package for civil servants and as palliative for transportation difficulties being experienced by teeming civil servants living in satellite towns within the FCT as well as increase productivity and raise staff morale for service delivery.”
He added that the 30 33-seater diesel air conditioned bus IVM6800 will be purchased from a local car assembly plant, Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing Company limited at the cost of N311,850,00.00, inclusive of Value-Added-Tax (VAT), with delivery period of 10 months.
“The choice of Innoson bus is in compliance with the directive of the FEC at its meeting held on Wednesday, 20 January, 2010, that locally assembled vehicles be patronized instead of foreign vehicles, where there are substitutes.
