For obvious offence, which contravened the law guiding the championship, the Local Organising Committee (LOC) of the season six of MTN Lagos Street Soccer has banned Alaguntan Street from taking part in the competition for the next two years.

Also, the tournament is now in the round of 64, while the U-15 category is now in the second round. The female team will also kick off this weekend with 56 teams. P.M.NEWS Sports gathered that Alaguntan Street were banned for match fixing in order to serve as deterrent to others.

Chairman, Arbitration Panel, Austin Akosa said that the LOC felt it would be appropriate to sanction any team that may want to bring the tournament to disrepute.

“For this year, the organisation has indeed helped to reduce the number of protest and the most prominent offence committed by teams this year is match fixing, which we believe can be checked with appropriate discipline to any team found guilty,” the renowned retired FIFA Licensed Match Commissioner said.

Also for fielding ineligible player in the tournament, two teams have been kicked out of the competition. The teams – Benson and Arizona Streets- were sent packing by the LOC recently.

Secretary General of the LOC, Deji Aladegbemi, noted that this year has been successful considering the quality of display by the teams especially in the U-15 junior category.

“We are excited with the U-15 category because of the quality of skills exhibited by the teams and this was made possible following the transparent and reliability of the screening before the kick off. For us, the U-15 category has indeed lived up to expectations even as we move to the second stanza of the tournament,” Aladegbemi said.
