Alhaji Baba Basharu, the chairman of PDP in the Boko Haram infested Borno state, in north east Nigeria, said the recent defection of some of the party’s members in the state to the ruling APC would not affect the party’s chances in the 2015 polls.

“I wish to say without fear of contradiction that the PDP will take over at the Borno Government House in Maiduguri in 2015.

“We will also capture all the three senatorial seats, because members of the electorate in the state are still behind us.

“Those who left the PDP are not real members of the party. They are political prostitutes who had been in almost all parties in the state.

“It is good that they have decided to leave now, for us to know who the real PDP members in the state are and plan ahead,’’ Basharu said.

Basharu meanwhile has advised the state government to come up with a massive rehabilitation programme for Boko Haram victims in the state.

Basharu believed that the gesture would go a long way in laying a solid foundation for the development of the state.

“We are calling on the state government to conduct a census of all the victims of the Boko Haram violent attacks in the state.

“It should get the data of the number of women who lost their husbands as well as children orphaned by the crisis.

“Government should then roll out a massive rehabilitation programme for them to start a new life,” he said.

Basharu also advised the state government to copy from the youths empowerment programme of the Kano state government, geared towards creating jobs for its teeming unemployed youths.

“We believe that the teeming unemployed Borno youths can be mobilised to embracing self-sustaining jobs, like the case in Kano state.

“The Borno government can copy from the programme by introducing youths’ programmes like the Borno Traffic Control Agency and similar ones,” he said.
