Africa's Digital Migration Dialogue Begins In Dubai

A galaxy of experts on digital broadcast technology today converged in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, UAE, to dialogue on issues concerning Africa’s digital migration.

Speakers at the event holding at the Fairmont Hotel and Resorts, Dubai include, Ana Aguilar, Director, Economic Consulting Group, London; Edmund Yirenkyi Fianko, Chairman, Ghana Migration Committee;  Dr. Peter Siebert, Executive Director, DVB Project; Gerhard Petrick, South Africa Digital Broadcast Association, SABIDA;  Russel Southwood, Chief Executive, Balancing Act; Mike Hughes, Co-Founder, Transmit and Gregory Bensberg, Director Ofcom.

The conference which will run till September 25, is sponsored by Multichoice, South Africa.

Discussants at the event are expected to share experiences and give insights into Africa’s ambitious 2015 migration and possibilities of meeting the deadline.

Gerhard Petrick of the South African Digital Broadcasting Association is expected to speak on digital technologies and the implication of Africa countries not meeting the 2015 deadline.

Related News

Peter Siebert will update the dialogue with global progress on DVB-transition while Edmund Fianko speak on West Africa progress on digital migration.

On his part, Daniel Obam, will speak on Kenya’s December 2013 deadline for digital migration in the country while Ana Aguilar will talk on Economics of broadcasting in new digital age.
