Court Remands Labourer For Murder

An Akure Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 20-year-old labourer, Dafe Kehinde, in prisons over alleged murder of a 27-year-old man, Saheed Abani.

The Magistrate, Mrs Florence Adesida, said the accused should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions.

Kehinde, a sawmill labourer, who lives at Ore in Ondo State, is being tried for conspiracy and murder.

The prosecutor, Cpl. Adeoye Adesegun, had told the court that the accused with others still at large committed the offences on August 17 at 3.00 p.m. at Golden Balm Hotel, Ore.

According to him, the accused stabbed the deceased with a knife during a fight between them.

“The deceased was confirmed dead as a result of the injuries he sustained during the fight.”

Adesegun noted that the offences contravened Sections 316, 319 and 324 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.

The case has been adjourned to December 3 for mention.
