Former Inspector General of Police, Mike Okiro has slammed the former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Nuhu Ribadu, over allegation that Okiro tried to eliminate him.
While reacting to comments made by Ribadu in an interview with two national dailies, Okiro described Ribadu’s claims as spurious.
Ribadu, while giving evidence in the case involving former governor of Delta State, James Ibori in London, said Okiro withdrew his official car and police security but the former IG, said the claims were very far from the truth.
Okiro also described as untrue claims made Ribadu that it was Ibori who nominated him for the post of the IGP.
According to Okiro, “ Well I am not there myself and cannot confirm or refute the claims. I am just hearing it for the first time. If he was there did he oppose it? I was appointed as IGP on merit and seniority.”
