Tight Security At Kaduna House Of Assembly
Security was beefed up at the Kaduna House of Assembly today to prevent break down of law and order following yesterday’s impeachment of the Speaker, Muazu Usman Gangara, and the appointment of a new Speaker, Shehu Usman Tahir.
The 19 members loyal tothe new speaker defied yesterday’s pronouncement by the impeached Gangara who claimed he was still in charge.
The 19 members arrived the Lord Lugard Hall premises of the Assembly today at about 9a.m. and commenced sitting at 10a.m. The sitting which was peaceful lasted for only 30 minutes.
The main agenda of the day was the appointment of new principal officers. Umaru Yunusa representing Lere East was appointed as the Majority leader, while Philemon Gidanmanna from Makera Constituency is the Chief Whip.
While Esther Habu representing Sanga Constituency is now the Deputy Majority leader, Bala Yunus of All Progressives Congress representing Tudun-Wada Constituency emerged as the Minority leader.
