Wheelchair Tennis Players Can’t Wait For Action

Nigeria’s wheelchair tennis players are eager to participate in the maiden edition of the wheelchair tennis in this year’s Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship.

The players who spoke with P.M.NEWS Tennis Special, explained that since they have been ‘starved’ of tournaments after the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN Open earlier this year, they are looking forward to participating in another top championship.

Speaking from his base in USA, winner of the CBN Open for the disabled players, Alex Adewale, said that he will be glad to play in the tourney.

Adewale said: “It will be nice if I can participate in the championship. It’s been a while since we had this kind of opportunity in the country.

Another player who expressed enthusiasm at the opportunity to play a tourney after a long while is Wasiu Yusuf, who maintained that wheelchair tennis players have been preparing for the championship after getting the information that wheelchair tourney will feature in the Governor’s Cup.

“We have been training hard for some time now preparing for the championship because we have not had that kind of competition before.

“The players are all happy and are looking forward to it. Since we have been assured of about three tournaments before this year ends, having the first one in the Governor’s Cup would be nice for us,” Wasiu said.
