Kaduna Police Confirms Bank Robbery

The Kaduna State Police Command on Friday said suspected armed robbers had attacked two commercial banks in Saminaka, about 200 kilometres from Kaduna, the state capital.

The spokesman of the command DSP Aminu Lawal told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview on Friday that the incident occurred on Thursday night but no casualties were recorded.

According to him, the suspected robbers used Improvised Explosive Devices to gain entrance into the banks, where they stole undisclosed amount of money.

He said that no arrest had been made but that the police were on the trail of the suspects.

Lawal assured people of the area of the determination of security agencies to protect their lives and property.

NAN reports that in spite of the denial by the police of casualties, sources in the town said a policeman and a civilian might have been killed in the attack, which residents said began at about 9 p.m till about 12 midnight.

Meanwhile, reports from the area indicates that security has been beefed up while residents have gone about their normal businesses
