Police Arraign 23 Traffic Offenders In Ogun
Twenty-three persons who violated various traffic laws on Friday pleaded guilty before a Senior Magistrates’ Court in Ota, Ogun.
The accused persons were arraigned before the court on an eight-count charge, ranging from driving without driver’s licence, reckless driving, failure to use seat belt, vehicle’s overloading, lack of vehicle number plate and broken windscreen, among others.
Magistrate Titi Bello, after listening to the pleas of the accused persons, granted them bail, ranging from N2,000 to N10,000, depending on the gravity of their offences.
She, however, ordered the police prosecutor to release their vehicles after they had paid the stipulated fines.
The accused are Wahab Shittu, 39, Olaniran Anibaba, 58, Segun Odubela, 38, Jare Bakare, 34, Sikiru Awodele, 55, and Olayiwola Akindele, 26.
Others are Wale Ajayi, 22, Olayinka Isa, 34, Oyekan Sunday, 30, Azeez Ogunde, 36, and Saidi Akinsanya, 34.
The rest are Aloba Adeniyi, 29, Hamzat Mohammed, 35, Kayode Chinedu, 32, Victor Ijaduola, 43, Egundare Olayinka, 27, Usman Ojo, 26, Segun Adeleke, 25, Olayinka Ogunseide, 45, Abegunde James, 34 and Salisu Amoo, 56.
The prosecutor, Mr Enwereuzo Uzoma, told the court that the accused committed the offences on September 26 between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. on Sango-Ota road.
He said that their offences committed contravened Sections 261 and 290 of Federal Road Safety Corps Traffic Law, 2006.
