Lagos Mourns Plane Crash Victims

The Lagos State Government has mourned victims of the Associated Airline plane crash in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria this morning.

An Associated airlines plane crashed on Thursday morning, killing at least 15 people, just minutes after taking off at the Murtala Muhammed International in Lagos, southwestern Nigeria.

The Associated Airline, with the Reg. No SCD 361 crashed shortly after take-off at about 9.30 am local time. The plane had 15 passengers and seven crew members on board.

The ill-fated plane carrying the remains of the late former governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Agagu was heading to Akure where well-wishers are waiting to receive the body of the late politician. Late

Agagu is due for burial this weekend in his hometown, Iju-Odo in Ondo State, South-West, Nigeria.

The government, in a statement from the Ministry of Information and Strategy described as monumental and unfortunate the loss of lives in the ill-fated Associated Airline plane crash.

The statement, signed on behalf of the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, by Mrs Ronke Osho said the news of the crash was received with shock and dismay by the state government.

“The state government thereby commiserates with the families and friends of the deceased, including Ondo State Government in particular and in deed, the whole country over this irreparable loss,” it stated.

The government prayed God to grant the families and the nation the fortitude to bear the loss.
