Enyimba have narrowed the lead of Kano Pillars at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) table to just one point after their 1-0 win over ABS on Saturday.

The People’s Elephant were the only top-four team that won on match day while Kano Pillars, Bayelsa United and El-Kanemi Warriors all lost.

But Enyimba had to work hard for the win before Andrew Abalogu popped up to score the winner on 66 minutes against his former club, ABS.

Enyimba are now in second position on 59 points, one behind table-topping Kano Pillars, who lost 1-2 to Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium.

Gombe United went two goals up through Babangida Ibrahim and Sani Mohammed before Gambo Mohammed halved the deficit for Kano Pillars.

In Owerri, El-Kanemi Warriors lost 0-1 to Heartland. Bright Ejike scored the winner from the spot.

Kaduna United put a dent on Bayelsa United’s ambition of a second league title with a 1-0 win. Monday Panemeras scored from the spot on 21 minutes to hand the Kaduna club the full points.

First half goals from Meshack Chukwubuikem and Onoriode Marshall gave Enugu Rangers a 2-0 win over Sharks while Akwa United surprisingly won one-nil at Wolves through Emmanuel Enize’s goal.
