NDLEA Arrests 20 Drug Suspects

The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Friday said it has arrested 20 persons, including a 27-year old woman, Yabi Ibrahim, for suspected drug offences.

The Gombe State Commandant of the agency, Mr Aliyu Adole disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Gombe.

Adole said Ibrahim, a resident of Karofin Bolari quarters, Gombe metropolis was arrested with 275 blocks of cocaine and 108 pinches of heroine in the state recently.

“We arrested a female drug trafficker by name Yabi Ibrahim, 27 years of age of Karofin Bolari, Gombe with 275 blocks of cocaine.

“She was one of the 20 suspected traffickers arrested by the command recently,” he said.

The NDLEA commandant said the command had commenced investigation into the matter and promised to arrest other persons who were in the same business.

“We have identified three people who were selling cocaine in that axis, we also have their identity and we are after them, very soon, we shall apprehend them,” he said.

According him, the suspect told the agency that she was getting her supply from Kano State through a man called Onyebuchi.

“We have sent our intelligence team after him. By the time we arrest him, I can assure you that the business of cocaine in Gombe will be over.

“The 19 drug suspects were arrested between July and September with a total of 53.41 kilogrammes of psychotropic substances recovered from them.

“Out of those arrested three were jail birds that were convicted to five years imprisonment each, while six were convicted to one year imprisonment.

“Two of the suspects are in detention, another two were at the counselling and rehabilitation unit of the agency.

“As am speaking with you now, the remaining ones were released to their parents and directed to report to the agency twice a week,” he said.

Adole advised the people in the state to always report any person who engaged in such business and assured them that the information would be treated with confidentiality.
