The police in Ogun on Monday arraigned a 33-year old man, Shakoni Adeniyi, over alleged theft of eight goats.
Adeniyi is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, theft and breach of the peace before an Ota Magistrates’ Court, in Ogun State, western Nigeria.
The prosecutor, Insp Peter Molokwu, told the court that the accused, a resident of 22, Adeyemi Street, Ota, conspired with another person still at large to commit the offences at 7.00p.m. on 19 October at Akute in Ota.
Molokwu added that the accused was caught at a police checkpoint in Ota.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened Sections 390 (3) and 516 of the Criminal Code, Law of Ogun State, 2006.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty.
Senior Magistrate Titi Bello granted him bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case to 25 November for mention.
