Ojikutu Seeks To Quash Criminal Charge

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, western Nigeria, Thursday morning adjourned till 31 October, 2013 for the hearing of the bail application filed before it by former deputy governor of Lagos State, Alhaja Sinatu Ojikutu and her son Sampson Ojikutu.

She wants the court to quash the criminal charge filed against them.

In the said application filed before the court by Chief Bolaji Ayorinde, SAN, leading two other SANs, Prince Segun Ajibola and Adekunle Oyesanya, they are urged the court to adjourn the case indefinitely pending the hearing of the full determination of the case filed before a Lagos High Court by the two applicants against the Inspector General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar and others.

They are also seeking the order of the court to dispense with the physical appearance of the two accused persons for the purpose of having the counts contained in the criminal charge read over to them pending the determination of a suit filed against them.

They further alleged that the charge arose from the complaint by Mr. Cajetan Okekearu against the accused persons with respect to the sale of property at Plot 24, Block 4 in Lekki Residential Scheme Phase 1.

They contended that the proceeds from the sale of the property which the accused persons have been alleged to have conspired to steal and obtain under false pretences is a subject of litigation in the said suit pending before a Lagos High Court, Lagos Division.
