Fashola Draws Curtains On 13th Governor's Cup

The Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, SAN, is expected to declare an end to the 13th Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship on Saturday.

The tournament, which is being sponsored by FCMB Plc, Etisalat Nigeria and other notable organisations and individuals who are friends of the Governor, has been described as a

prestigious tournament in Africa where emerging tennis stars are coming to Lagos to win the $80,000 prize money and garner ATP points to improve on their world ranking.

The final ceremony at the Lagos Lawn Tennis Club, Onikan will begin with the final of the Women’s Singles by 3p.m. after which the men’s singles will take the centre stage.

Other dignitaries expecting include Chief Executive Officers of the sponsor companies, Commissioner for Sports in Lagos, Enitan Oshodi, who is the Chief Host and other tennis pundits.

Meanwhile, the semi final of the men and women’s singles will be played today, while the finals of the doubles events will also be decided today.

In the men’s doubles, Ante Pavic (Croatia) and Ruan Roelofse (South Africa) against Borna Coric (Croatia) and Dino Marcan (Croatia), while in the women’s doubles, Fatma Al Nabhani (Oma) and Gioia Barbieri (Italy) clash against Conny Perrin (Switzerland) and Chanel Simmonds (South Africa).
