I Enjoy Nigerian Food –US Based Star

American female tennis player, Idia Amen, has described Nigeria’s local dishes as ‘great’ and ‘quite interesting’.

Idia, who was a wild card entrant at the ongoing Governor’s Cup Lagos Tennis Championship, explained that although she’s of Nigerian descent, she was only visiting for the second time in her life.

The twenty year old who would rather be addressed as a Nigerian American, explained to P.M. NEWS Sports during a chat, how her dad used to cook a lot of Nigerian delicacies for her in the US, though she could not remember all their names.

“Coming to Nigeria is a totally nice experience for me, an aye opener I’d say. The first time I came here was in 2005 just to visit grand parents and other family members but now I came for a tournament.

“I think Nigeria is such a funny place with everything around you quite overwhelming, it’s quite different from the US but it’s pretty cool that way.

“Dad prepares the local dishes at home, back in the US and I eat a lot of them, but my favourite is Egusi though I don’t really know how to prepare that for now” the number five female tennis player in Texas enthused.

She further stated her desire to visit the country to play the International Tennis Federation, ITF-rated Futures in subsequent years in a bid to make progress in her career.

“I really love it out here, believe me and I would love to come back here to play ITF Futures in order to win points and progress in my career” said the player who loves Federer’s ‘one hand backhand’
