Tinubu, Others Extol Oba Akiolu At 70

Senator  Oluremi Tinubu, representing Lagos Central, on Tuesday, urged Nigerians to emulate Oba Rilwan Akiolu of Lagos for his uprightness and peace-loving nature.

Tinubu told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on the sideline of the 70th birthday celebration of Oba Akiolu, that the king had been a good father to the people of Lagos.

“At the age of 70, he is still a blessing to all of us, for his good advice and helping us in maintaining peace in Lagos State.

“He has used his position to touch and carry everyone along and has been advising the people of Lagos when necessary.

“He always calls for peace and love from every one of us,’’ the legislator said.

In his remark, Oba Momodu Ashafa, the Onijanikin of Ijanikin in Lagos, said that Akiolu led other traditional rulers in the state well as the Chairman of the Council of Obas in the state.

“He is a man of his words. If he says that something is white, it is white. So you can hardly fault his words.

“He likes helping people, sharing others’ problems, and so we ought to celebrate him,’’ Ashafa said.

The traditional ruler said that Akiolu was very close to his family and offered fatherly advice always.

Other well wishers wished the Oba of Lagos long life and prosperity as well as God’s guidance and a long reign on the throne.
