Man Charged With Abducting Girl, 20, For 4 Months

The Nigerian police in the northern state of Katsina on Thursday arraigned a 35-year-old man, Abba Gafai, in a Katsina Chief Magistrates’ Court for abducting a 20-year-old girl, Shamsiyya Ahmad.

The Police Prosecutor, Mr Hashimu Musa, told the court that the mother of the victim, Bilkisu Mukhtar, reported the matter to the Central Police Station, Katsina, northern Nigeria.

He said that Bilikisu told the police that the accused abducted her daughter four months ago and her whereabouts was still a mystery.

The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 272 of the Penal Code.

After listening to the prosecutor, the Presiding Magistrate, Abdulkarim Umar, referred the case back to the commissioner of police for further investigation.
