Foremost sports journalist and member, Nigeria Football Federation, NFF Technical and Development Committee, Etubom Paul Bassey has been saddled with two crucial assignments by both world football-governing body FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF), this month.

In what aptly underscores Bassey’s growing profile in the global game,
the world body has appointed the former Publisher of Today Sports as Match Commissioner for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match between
Algeria and Burkina Faso taking place at the Mustapha Tchaker Stadium,
Blida on Tuesday, 19 November, 2013.

Ademola Olajire, Assistant Director (Media) of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, said in a press release on Sunday that Algeria/Burkina Faso clash is delicately poised after Burkina Faso’s Etalons, runners up at the last Africa Cup of Nation, won the first leg 3-2 in Ouagadougou on 12 October. The referee assessor for that game is Lim Kee Chong, the respected former FIFA referee from Mauritius.
