Murder in Ekiti: Police arrest lawmaker, 3 others
The Nigerian Police in Ekiti State have arrested four persons, including a lawmaker, in connection with the bloody clash in Emure-Ekiti on Monday.
The spokesman of the State Police Command, Mr Victor Babayemi, who stated this at a news briefing on Wednesday in Ado-Ekiti, did not disclose their identities. One person was killed and another seriously injured in a shoot-out during the clash.
Babayemi said that those arrested would be moved to Abuja for further questioning.
He said that the decision to transfer them to Force CID, Abuja Police Headquarters, was informed by the need to ensure proper investigation.
“I cannot mention the names of those arrested because the police commissioner has not asked me to do so. Secondly, we all know the gravity of grievous offence like murder, and we do not want anything that can destroy our investigation,” the PPRO said.
