Senator Gbenga Ashafa has commended the Golden Eaglets for their heroic performance at the just concluded 2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement signed by his Head, Media and Strategy, Mr. Babatunde Adegunju, Ashafa congratulated the heroic display of the Eaglets for winning the trophy, saying the victory was a clear indication that hope is not lost in the country.
“The victory shows that Nigeria will overcome all her present challenges despite all odds. I want to congratulate all Nigerians and Africans. To me, the victory will also rekindle our hopes and strengthen our unity,” he said.
The lawmaker who is representing the Lagos East Senatorial District also commended the team coach, Manu Garba, for the dexterity displayed by the young players in the tournament, adding that Nigerians need prayerd for continued success which will not only be in sports but also in the nation’s political scene.
