Victor Umeh: Anambra election free and fair

Chief Victor Umeh, the National Chairman of Nigeria’s All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), on Sunday dismissed allegations that INEC and security agencies helped his party to rig the Anambra Governorship Election.

Addressing a news conference in Awka, Umeh expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the election.

He said that APGA was satisfied with the way the security agents managed the poll, adding that INEC on its part, lived up to its promise to conduct free, fair and peaceful governorship poll.

According to Umeh, other political parties are crying foul because their plot to rig the election was frustrated by the vigilance of the security agents.

He said that media reports indicated that hoodlums who were being transported from Owerri, the Imo capital, to cause crisis and rig the election, were arrested by security agents.

Umeh, who commended security agencies, especially the Police and the Army, noted that there was no single violence and loss of lives during the election.

He said that those disparaging INEC and the security agencies in order to discredit the poll, were doing so because they could not rig the election as they had planned.

He further said that the popularity of APGA in the election was not unexpected, as it had campaigned intensively in the past two months.
