Nigeria’s Labour Party (LP) candidate in the Anambra Governorship Election, Mr Ifeanyi Ubah, has joined the criticism against the conduct of the poll in the state.

Both the APC and PDP have condemned the election. Only the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA has endorsed the election.

Ubah, at a news conference in Awka on Sunday also called for the cancellation of the election.

“We condemn in totality the electoral flaw that was committed by INEC at the poll.

“I believe that Anambra election would have been a yard stick and I still believe it is a yard stick for the 2015 elections.

“The integrity of Prof Attahiru Jega is now at stake. It is either for him to toe the path of honour to resign or for him to dishonour his name.

“He stands to take responsibility for allowing someone from his agency to make such mistake even after handing the person over to the police,” he said.

Ubah claimed that going by results put together by his agents, he won the election in Nnewi North local government area, rating the election in area as the best conducted in the state.

“In Nnewi, Labour Party won landslide. No party got 30 per cent of the total votes in the area, compared to what we got in spite of the N10,000 inducements by opposition parties,” Ubah said.

According to him, no one has condemned Nnewi election which should be used as a yard stick for what transpired in the entire election.

“I should be declared the winner, but if they do not want to do that, INEC should cancel the entire elections.

“I am ready to forfeit my victory in Nnewi so that there will be a re-run.

“I want transparency to be the order of the day. I want us to have a new Nigeria starting from Anambra,” he added.

He disclosed that his party and the APC and PDP candidates, Sen. Chris Ngige, and Mr Tony Nwoye respectively, would address a joint press conference on the poll.

Ubah said the disenfranchisement of voters at the various polling units was another reason for calling for the cancellation of the poll.

The LP candidate expressed surprise that the name of the PDP candidate was missing from the voters’ register.

He, however, thanked his supporters and the people of the state for coming out en masse and apologised to them over events at the polling centres.
