No technical adviser for Super Eagles, says Sports Minister

Bolaji Abdullahi, Minister of Sports and Chairman, National Sports Commission, has said Nigeria is not planning to hire a technical adviser for the Super Eagles.

There’s been so much talk in the media that the Nigeria Football Federation was planning to appoint a foreign technical adviser for the Super Eagles.

The issue had elicited reactions from many Nigerians, who felt that the current Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, had done well so far, and had proven his capability to take the team to the World Cup.

Keshi qualified the Eagles for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil after defeating Ethiopia 4-1 on aggregate.

Abdullahi, who was in Ilorin for the 6th edition of the National School Sports Festival which began on Saturday, re-emphasised the need to revitalise grassroots sports, especially in the schools.

He said that the crop of players in the Golden Eaglets team that conquered the world recently at the FIFA U-17 World Cup at the United Arab Emirates, was a testimony that “we are now getting things right”.
