The Commissioner for Information in Jigawa, Alhaji Babandi Gumel, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse shortly after the merger announcement: “I am telling you authoritatively that Lamido has not defected to any party.’’

Similarly, a statement issued by Lamido’s Director of Press, Alhaji Umar Kiyari in Dutse on Tuesday stated that Lamido remains the living father of the PDP, “no matter the challenges”.

The director said that Lamido was not unaware of the crisis rocking the party but he would remain in PDP.
