Ijeoma Grace Agu, one of the new talents in Nollywood, has delivered an amazing role in Misfit, a new suspense thriller hitting Nigerian cinemas soon.
The suspense thriller based on the story of a prostitute who is kidnapped by a mysterious group but decides to take charge of her destiny by planning her escape, saw Agu playing the lead act, bringing all her expertise to bear.
Written and directed by Daniel Emeke Oriahi, a talented Nigerian filmmaker, whose works have been duly recognized in Nigeria and beyond its shores, Misfit is the first feature motion picture produced by House5 Production, an outfit that has prior to this period won awards for short films, documentaries and has been involved in many independent projects.
Oriahi in a chat with P.M.NEWS Showbiz Trends after the special media screening of the film at Filmhouse Cinemas in Lagos said the idea behind the movie came to him in 2006 after he read an article about a lady who was abducted. The new film, he noted deals with several sub-themes including the essence of freedom.
“After I read about the lady in 2006, I took my time to research on why and how she was abducted. I found that she was held captive because they discovered she was pregnant and they wanted to use her baby for rituals. I got to meet the lady and she gave her consent about making the movie because she felt it was a story that needed to be told one way or the other,” said Oriahi.
The film will hit select cinemas from December.
