The beautiful city of Calabar, the capital of Cross River State is already agog with activities as the famed Calabar Festival begins tomorrow Saturday 30 November.

The festival which heralds the popular Carnival Calabar will commence with the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony at the Millennium Park, Calabar. And the Christmas tree is set to break record as the biggest in Africa.

Popular comedian, Akpororo will be on hand to thrill the revellers during the lighting ceremony.

PMNEWS Entertainment Cafe learnt that the tree lighting ceremony will be followed by the Paradise City Walk against HIV/AIDS the following day. In the evening after the walk, Samsong, Obiwon, Segun Obe, Kage, Nnanke and Darlene will perform at the World Aids Day Charity Concert billed for the same Millennium Park.

Before the concert, the state Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke is expected to declare open the Festival Village at the Calabar Municipality Council grounds.

The Festival Village is being moved from its traditional ground at the Cultural Centre, owing to the on-going construction work on a new shopping complex there.
