Okotie Attacked Over Comment On Catholics

The controversial statement credited to Rev. Kris Okotie of the Household of God Church, that Catholics all over the world will go to hell has elicited reactions from many Nigerians.
While preaching in his church in Lagos on Sunday, Okotie described the Catholic Church as a counterfeit church set up by satan and that Catholics bow to idols and crucify Jesus every Sunday when they eat bread (holy communion), claiming they eat Jesus.
In a reaction, an anonymous responder said he was disappointed at the statement and called on Okotie to repent.
Another responder who identified himself as Fryo said Okotie should be regarded as a businessman rather than a pastor. “He is out there looking for money; from music to being a fake pastor and then politics. He should be ashamed of himself. A pastor who derives joy in marrying his church members and divorcing them. What is he really preaching to his church members?,” he queried.
Fryo expressed sympathy for his church members who are still worshipping there. “What he knows best is condemning other churches and pastors,” he stated.
Bankole Opeyemi John opined that many Nigerian pastors lacked proper understanding of the scripture and mislead their church members. “They don’t give room for the Holy Spirit to inspire them when they read the scriptures. They read the scriptures with their distorted capacity to reason, calling it inspiration. I wondered about the reactions of members of his congregation last Sunday. I can see that Chris Okotie is confused,” he added.
Sam posited that Okotie’s utterances should be taken with a pinch of salt since none of his prophecies and visions ever came to pass.
Another respondent, Mark said Okotie is afflicted by curses from the women he disappointed in marriage while Lawrence Mario accused Okotie of being ignorant.
