Globacom Phone Doctors Repair Phones For Free

Glo: introduces ‘borrow me credit’

Globacom has redefined customer service delivery by providing subscribers, irrespective of their network of choice, the opportunity to repair their smartphones free at Gloworld shops in the country.
The first phase of the scheme known as Phone Doctor, which was concluded in Lagos recently, saw the telecoms giant, in partnership with Nokia, bringing in handset technicians who carried out free repairs of customers’ smartphones.

The company also offered ten per cent discount on all Nokia smartphones purchase while giving away Nokia and Glo freebies including 200 free mobile applications.

The Phone Doctors visited the Gloworld shop on Victoria Island, and then moved to other shops in Lekki, Ikeja Mall, Apapa, Surulere and ended in Yaba Gloworld last weekend.

The Phone Doctor project will proceed to other Gloworld shops in the country on dates to be announced in the second phase of the project. Brenda Akhigbe, Head of Gloworld, said the Phone Doctor services were opened to all customers irrespective of the networks they subscribed to. She disclosed that bundled SIMs with free data plans were given out to consumers who buy devices during the exercise.
Akhigbe said that Globacom was reaching out to mobile phone users in order to deepen their telephone experience. “We consider this service very important to our esteemed customers who would have thrown away their handsets due to minor, reparable faults. Today, we have ‘phone doctors’ who have restored those handsets to live,” she said.

Ahmed Usman, a Phone Doctor from Nokia Care revealed that they were able to repair, update and install new software for customers’ Nokia handsets. “We rendered those services at no cost to Nokia customers. It was sponsored by Globacom,” he explained.

Usman commended Globacom’s initiative, saying that the Phone Doctor Scheme has given real free service to Nigerians. “The customers also were excited because they were able to get their phones repaired immediately as compared to other situations that they would need to drop their devices till another day after the repairs,” Usman said.

Toyin Adebayo, a customer said she was delighted and suggested that Globacom take the scheme to other locations. She praised Globacom and Nokia for the initiative.
