Audu Ejo, coach of Nigeria’s Supersand Eagles – the national beach soccer team – has revealed that Nigeria will participate in international four-nation beach soccer tournament next year.

According to Ejo, the competition will involve national teams of Iran, Germany and Lebanon in Lebanon, April, 2014. The coach said that the Nigerian team would open camp for the invitational tournament as early as January, 2014, in Abuja.

Despite not been paid their bonuses at the last Copa Lagos Beach Soccer Championship by Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Coach Ejo still has faith in the ability of the football body to offset the money owed his team.

He said the NFF officials had told him that the team’s allowances would be paid this week despite the fact that the body is cash trapped.

The coach commended the NFF for establishing a beach soccer league in Abuja, and praised the Lagos FA for coming up with a beach league in the state, adding that the leagues would give room to build a solid team through the invitation of players to national team.  He noted that Nigeria should put in motion the process to replace ageing beach soccer players who have been with him since inception of the Supersand Eagles.
