Rights activist, Shehu Sani eyes Kaduna senate seat

Mr. Shehu Sani, a human rights activist,based in Nigeria’s northern state of Kaduna wants to be a senator.

Reports said Sani wants to represent Kaduna Central district, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress.

Sani at a reception in Zaria for Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, the interim chairman of the party in the state said the country needs a credible leadership that will foster Nigeria’s unity.

“Such leadership will connect the people with the resources and harness our potential, while ensuring the betterment of the Nigerian society,’’ he added.

He said that the essence of democracy was to ensure “a better and secured life, a peaceful environment and prosperous future.”

Dr Mohammed Sani-Bello, a chieftain of the All Peoples Congress (APC) in Kaduna State, harped on the same theme, saying that the future of Nigeria would solely depend on “credible leadership’’.

Sani-Bello, a one-time governorship aspirant on the platform of CPC, said: “Nigeria requires credible leaders who will ensure justice, equity and respect for human rights.

“We want to appeal to Nigerians to join hands to salvage Nigeria through the election of credible persons to lead the country,’’ he advised.

Also speaking, Alhaji Sani Abbas, a former governorship aspirant under the ANPP, said: “This is the first time the opposition is coming together since the constitution of the APC leadership.

“With the three parties coming together, the opposition has now become very strong and reliable,” he said.
