An Aero Contractors plane, whose tyre lost pressure mid-air, landed safely at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, western Nigeria, aviation authorities said on Sunday.

The aircraft, a Boeing 737-500 with Registration No 5N-BLC, landed at 10.50 a.m with 104 passengers and crew members on board, said the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN.

The aircraft has been towed to the apron and the Accident Investigation Prevention Bureau, AIPB has commenced investigation into the incident, said Yakubu Dati, FAAN spokesperson.

“We wish to assure all air travelers of their safety and caution against magnifying a manageable incident out of proportion,” Dati said.

Former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Mallam Nasir Elrufai, was among the passengers on the plane.
