There are strong indications that Warri Wolves midfielder Sunday Mba will formalise terms with the French club, CA Bastia on 2 January, 2014, a day after the opening of the winter transfer market.
Unlike what happened in the summer transfer market where the transfer was cancelled at the last minute, all parties are believed to have agreed to the monetary aspects of the contract.
And that means the 25 – year – old will not participate in the CHAN championship scheduled to kick off on 11 January as it is reserved for only players plying their trade in the domestic championship.
Allnigeriasoccer.com understands that the transfer is 85 per cent completed and the contract is expected to be sealed with CA Bastia on 2 January,
CA Bastia are last on the Ligue 2 table after 18 matches played in the second – tier. Cercle Athlétique Bastiais or CA Bastia gained promotion to Ligue 2 in May 2013.
Meanwhile, world football governing body, FIFA, has selected Super Eagles’ winning goal by Mba at the final of Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2013 as one of the 13 moments that defined 2013.
“It was a goal worthy of winning any match, and Sunday Mba’s CAF Africa Cup of Nations-winning strike brought joy and relief to an entire nation. Nigeria had not won a major trophy in 17 years going into the continental showpiece, but despite the best efforts of debutant finalists Burkina Faso, Mba’s precise volley – after flicking the ball over his opponent’s head – proved sufficient to secure the African crown,” FIFA disclosed on its website at the weekend.
