Manchester City are set to beat Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of a Nigerian teenage striker Musa Yahaya, dubbed the “Nigerian Neymar”.

The midfielder from Mutunchi Football Academy in Kaduna, northern Nigeria, has been described as fast, skillful and a good dribbler who knows how to strike the balls from distance. He has also been described as Nigeria’s Iniesta.

The Nigeria under-17 international, born 16 December, 1997 is being monitored by a host of clubs across Europe after impressing with four goals in seven matches at the Under-17 World Cup in November to help his side win the tournament.

Tottenham Hotspur are known to be one of the clubs interested in the 16-year-old playmaker’s signature but SportsDirect News understands Manchester City are the frontrunners to land the youngster.

City are in advanced talks with the player’s agent Babawo Mohammed to bring Yahaya, who has been likened to Barcelona and Brazil striker Neymar, to the Etihad Stadium and Yahaya himself is keen on a switch to the Premier League outfit.

The playmaker’s international team-mates Kelechi Iheanacho and Chidiebere Nwakali are already on the books at City, which is likely to make Yahaya choose a move to the Citizens over their European rivals.
