The conferment will take place during the convocation ceremony of the University in Makonde in the south of Sierra Leone on Saturday February 15th, 2014.
Njala University is a public university, with campuses in Bo and Njala.
It was originally created as part of the University of Sierra Leone (USL) in 1964 with the help of USAID and offered degrees in conjunction with the University of Illinois.
In the letter of award, signed by the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University, Prof. Abu Essay, the university described former Governor Tinubu as a great son of Africa who has had a remarkable career in public service.
Tomorrow, 14 February, President Ernest Bai Koroma will roll out the red carpet for Tinubu, in a reception. Koroma will receive Tinubu in private audience before the grand reception.
Former Governor Tinubu remains committed to the political and economic liberation of Africa starting with the sub-region.
This is aptly demonstrated in the key role he played in the restoration of democracy in Ghana, Sierra Leone and other countries.
