A middle-aged woman, simply identified as Iyawo Alfa was crushed to death inside a church in Sotubo town, a
suburb of the commercial town of Sagamu in Ogun State, western Nigeria.
The tragedy occurred along the busy Sagamu-Ikorodu road early this morning, while the deceased was
praying in the church.
It was further gathered that the accident was the second in three weeks in front of the same church.
A witness said the truck laden with sand was coming from Sagamu end of the road. Suddenly, one of its front tyres exploded making the driver lose control. The vehicle careered off the road into the church.
It hit the woman, who was said to be on her knees, praying to her God. Her four month old baby, who was with her survived, so was the Clergyman taking her supplication.
The driver of the vehicle and another occupant of the truck have been arrested.
Two weeks ago, an 18- seater bus also crashed in front of the church. The driver died on the spot.
