World Cup: NFF Rallies Support For Flamingoes

President,  Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Aminu Maigari has assured Nigerians that the country’s U-17 women’s team, Flamingoes, who are currently campaigning at the ongoing FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in Costa Rica would continue to improve as the competition hots up.

The Flamingoes in their first match of the tournament defeated hard fighting China PR 2-1 at the Estadio Alejandro Morera Soto, Alajuela Costa Rica. Maigari is of the view that the Nigerian ladies will be getting better as the tourney progresses.

Maigari hinged his optimism on the preparation of the team before the World Cup and their performance against the Asians in their Group D opener in Costa Rica.

Maigari said: “I’m very impressed with the performance of the Flamingoes. They really gave their opponents a run for their money and I know they won’t let Nigerians down when it matters most. We will also give them the needed support throughout the tournament.’’

China will look to earn their first points in Group D when they face Mexico on Wednesday, while Nigeria will be aiming to secure a firm grasp atop the group when they take on Colombia.
