Governor Babatunde Fashola in an upcoming interview with TheNEWS magazine has urged Lagosians to claim their rights as embedded in the tenancy law enacted by his government in 2011.

He said the law was made to protect the citizens against shylock landlords and urged citizens to take advantage of it.

Residents of the state had complained that the law has been a paper tiger and that landlords have not been respecting the provisions, such as collecting not more than three month rent in advance from an existing tenant and not more than a year, from a new tenant.
