The gavel of justice

An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Friday ordered Gbenga Omotosho, 29, to be remanded in prison for killing his own son, Segun.

The police prosecutor, Cpl. Monica Ikebuilo, told the court that the accused committed the offence on 8 March, at about 10.00 a.m. at Area Two Beer Parlour, Adin Quarters, in Ilawe-Ekiti.

She said that the accused unlawfully caused the death of his son, Segun Omotosho, during a fight with his wife.

The prosecutor said the offence contravenes Section 319(1) of the Criminal Code; cap C16, Laws of Ekiti State 2012.

Monica said she had duplicated the case file and sent to the Directorate of Public Prosecution for legal advice.

The plea of the accused was not taken.

Counsel to the accused, Mrs Grace Oyekanmi, sought for a date for adjournment pending the DPP’s legal advice.

Magistrate Doyin Akosile remanded the accused in prison pending the outcome of DPP’s legal advice, and adjourned the case till 24 April 24 for further hearing.
