Governor Willie Obiano: swears in new commissioners

The new governor of Anambra state in the eastern part of Nigeria, Mr. Willie Obiano, has warned the public about a syndicate that has started defrauding unsuspecting Nigerians using his name and contact.

Governor Obiano took over from Peter Obi, who completed an eight-year, two terms as governor of the state earlier this week.

Through his James Eze, his Senior Special Assistant on Media, the governor said in a statement late Friday that the syndicate had made public a bank account number through which those who wanted political appointments from the governor could make deposits.

The syndicate, which also provided a phone number through which its members could be reached, urged those who wanted a political office from the governor to pay N500,000.
