Fowler said there was no way he would have resigned unceremoniously as reported, adding that there was no way he would have done so without following due process.

“I wish to place on the record that I have not resigned my appointment as the Executive Chairman of the Lagos State Board of International Revenue. I remain in office and continue to serve the people of Lagos State in my designated position,” he said in his office on Tuesday.

“I have not resigned, you can see me still working. If I were to resign, there is a procedure for that. I would have reported to the Governor or sent a resignation letter to him. The Governor would have received it.

“It is the responsibility of the state government to issue a circular that I am leaving and the rest will follow. In terms of the plan to contest for governorship election,  I don’t believe I have had any press conference where I told anybody that I am  running for the post of governor. I don’t know where that is coming from. If there are people that wish me that assignment, I say to them Thank You,” he added.

On his governoship ambition, Fowler said it is a bit too early to start thinking about that, saying that “running for office is to serve. I believe that there should be a sign or people must request for your service before you start offering your service.”

According to him, since he had not resigned his appointment, nobody is planning to succeed him as only the governor had the power to appoint anybody into that office and subject to the approval of the State House of Assembly.
