Osun APC postpones ward congress

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state of Osun said it has postponed the ward congress slated for 5 April to enable its members concentrate on the 9 August governorship election.

Mr Gboyega Famodun, APC Secretary in Osun announced this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo.

Famodun said: “The ward congress is expected to bring on board 23 officers in the 332 wards across the state, and due to the gubernatorial election, there is the need for its members to play key roles towards ensuring success.”

He said the party was determined to achieve its key objectives in the state, and every form of diversion of its members single-mindedness, needed to be addressed.

“ If we allow the ward congress to hold on Saturday, some of the elected officers at the local government levels may be occupied with party activities at their domain, which will make them not to fully focus on the gubernatorial election.

“ But after the gubernatorial election on Aug. 9, a date will be announced for the ward congress, and this will make every participating member to fully carry out party activities without any hitches’’ Famodun said.
