A man, accused of trying to kidnap a child in Mile 12 Area of Ketu was clubbed to death on Thursday night, witnesses said.

The incident took place on Fadare Street at about 8p.m., neighbours said, adding that the man was beaten to death with sticks by an irate mob that did not want to involve the police.

Ketu is located in Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos, western Nigeria.

Witnesses said the man, disguised as a mad man and dressed like a woman, had been roaming the streets around Fadare and was holding a bag full of charms.

When it was dark, at about 8pm, they said, he grabbed a child and was about to kidnap the child when he was caught.

The suspect was then beaten to death by an irate mob and his corpse was dragged by a car, about 500 metres from where he was killed, to Ajelogo.
