Police confirm Bauchi village attack
The Bauchi State Police Command has confirmed that unknown gunmen shot and injured one person in an attack in Wasasa village of Tafawa Balewa Local Government Area.
DSP Mohammed Haruna, spokesman of the command, said that a five-man team of assassins who attacked a house in the village was seeking for two persons.
He said that on sighting the attackers, the victims ran into a nearby house where the gunmen chased and shot him in the leg before setting the house ablaze.
Haruna added that the attack occurred at around 5.00 a.m., saying it was believed that the assailants were after the victim and another man who managed to escape unhurt.
“The victim ran from the first house into another one nearby where he was pursued and shot in the leg before the assailants put the house on fire,” he said.
He said the situation had been brought under control, adding that investigation was ongoing but no arrest had been made.
He appealed to members of the public to report security challenges to the police and be willing to give vital information.
