Police Beef Up Security In Lagos

Ahead of the forthcoming Easter festivities and Lagos State Black Heritage Carnival, the Lagos State Police Command has beefed up security to forestall any break down of law and order in the state.

In a release, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Mrs Ngozi Braide said the police took the measure to prevent hoodlums from perpetrating any sinister act during the period.

She said strike forces and specialized units of the force which include Police Mobile Force (PMF), personnel in the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU, Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Explosive Ordnance Division (EOD) and conventional men have been deployed to strategic locations to monitor vehicles and individuals coming into the state and conduct stop and search.

Braide said the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) operatives have also been deployed to all nooks and crannies for covert operation to ensure hitch free celebration of the events.

She warned criminals to stay away from Lagos otherwise they will find themselves on the wrong side of the law.

The PPRO said the state police boss, Umar Manko, has since directed all Area Commanders and Divisional Police Officers to supervise and monitor this intensive surveillance which will also pay serious attention to strategic places such as worship centres, shopping malls, financial institutions, business plazas, markets, government installations, recreation centres, motor parks and others.

Meanwhile, Manko, on behalf of the officers and men of the command, wishes Christians and Lagosians a happy Easter and Black Heritage Carnival celebration.

He further thanks the citizens for their unalloyed cooperation so far while urging them to always provide useful information to the police.
